Tenebre
Ascension By Awareness
December 2012
Released: 2012, Independent Rating: 2.0/5 Reviewer: Metal-Rules.com UK Team Tenebre are a 2 piece band from Varese, Lombardy, Italy. First formed in 2008 (although, some sites state either 2007 or 2009) by Anima, he went through several line-up changes before joining forces with Bloodshed. Currently an unsigned band, “Ascension by Darkness” is their debut release. I’m always very wary about bands with so few members, and this band is no exception. It’s really not a bad effort, production wise you can tell that they have really tried but one thing is missing; the sound. They have all the right elements for a great set of songs but the sound is just not big enough, I suppose that’s what you get really when you have only 2 members. If they can get signed and hire a couple more members, then I’m sure that they will be on to better things. The title track I coined the phrase “Ibiza metal” purely because it almost sounds like a dance track. “Luce Di Sangue” has some pretty good guitar solos whilst “Luna D’Argento” has a very military feel to it. The rest of the album is ok but a lot of it is very forgetful due to the lack of build-up. The outro at the end is really unnecessary, there is no need for it to be there at all, and it sounds pretty shit. It’s not a bad attempt but they need to severely step up their game if they want to make it. I wouldn’t suggest this album but if they get better then look out for them. Review by Lianne Alice ![]()
