Australian Metal band Lord have released their strongest album to date. I know it sounds like a timeless cliche where the new album is always the best and strongest release but it couldn’t be more fitting than with DIGITAL LIES.
To begin with I am not a Power Metal fan but I do enjoy Lord’s music. This album really grabbed me and in the short time I have owned it. It is extremely catchy and guitar driven which I enjoy. For someone such as myself that doesn’t enjoy the stereo-typed Power Metal genre this album is an enjoyable listen. Yes there are places where you will get those insane double kicks such as the beginning of “Point Of View” but digging deeper you will realize it’s not all about that and there are some great melodies there. On a song like “Walk Away” there are hints of old 80’s style Hair Metal mixed in with Power Metal to create a sound that is almost difficult to describe. Melodic Metal perhaps? It is the song “2D Person In A 3D World” that stands out amongst the dozen track on the album for a couple of reasons. The first is that it is extremely catchy and secondly is that it is possibly the most different compared to the rest of the album. This is my personal favorite track on DIGITAL LIES. It has all the makings of a great Metal song, including humorous lyrics. Maybe we’ll see more like this on future albums?
A fantastic album from start to finish with something for all of us Metal fans to sink our teeth into. Jam packed with melodies, harmonies, back beats and all around Grade A Musicianship. DIGITAL LIES is destined to be one of the year’s top Metal albums.
