From the Devil´s Tomb
October 2010
Released: 2010, Agonia Records
Rating: 4.0/5
Reviewer: Luxi Lahtinen

Do you feel the need to mock all things purely holy and hypocritical? Do you feel like bleeding for the Devil a little bit, or raping an innocent nun just for fun, just for your own pleasure?

Good… good. But you deserve a bit better than that. Weapon, this 4-headed unholy goat crawling out from the darkest blocks of Edmonton (Alberta), Canada, have been desecrating the graveyards and burning churches down since 2003 – metaphorically speaking. With one demo, a couple of EPs and one full-length album so far – and many people, chosen the Left-Hand Path for their life philosophy, have really been into them what they have done in terms of turning all holy into unholy and evil.

Weapon plays evil, ferocious and satanic blackened Death Metal that is amazingly varied and atmospheric – full of totally killer twists and turns, and basically saving no one for its piercing and malicious fury when hitting to its targets. To me, they sound like sort of a crossbreed of such unholy trinity as Immolation, Sadistic Intent and Fallen Christ. The music on the band´s 2nd full-length album – baptized unceremoniously in the blackest blood by the name FROM THE DEVIL´S TOMB, has actually everything I personally demand and expect from my daily dose of blackened old school Death Metal. The unorthodox, ear-ripping riffs, spine-chillingly evil vocals, fast drumming, beautiful acoustic guitar parts, catchy song arrangements – and hell, basically everything else in general on this record, they all create one strong and very convincing wholeness together. Sure, there´s nothing new, unheard, or revolutionary that our Canadian icon-smashers could offer through their viciously moving Black/Death Metal stuff any more, but why they should in the first place anyway, as it´s already proven that their own crusade to wipe all Christians away from the face of the earth, has been so successful for them – at least release-wise how much their previous recordings have gained sheer appreciation and honor in those communities where people don´t necessary wash their hands and feet before going to enjoy their suppers along with other sheep.

FROM THE DEVIL´S TOMB is a fuckin´ brilliant, top-notch Black/Death Metal release that should not be ignored by any fan of extreme metal. Simply get it – and be blown away by it once and for all.
