The Neon God
May 2004
Released: 2004, Sanctuary
Rating: 5.0/5
Reviewer: JP

My 2002 review of the last W.A.S.P. CD, DYING FOR THE WORLD, consisted of four words; Album Of The Year, and gained perfect marks. By a twist of fate, (and a week of gut-wreching internal debate) Manowar edged out DYING for my top pickoff the year. I’m not going to be so bold in 2004 and proclaim THE NEON GOD my pick of the year… yet…. but it still deserves top grade.

I don’t even know what I’m doing reviewing this CD. I’m so biased as W.A.S.P. still stands and my favorite band of all time. Blackie is my metal god and everything the band has done is platinum. This is no exception. Ten years in the making this truly stands as Blackie’s tour-de-force. I think he has accomplished what he set out to do with THE CRIMSON IDOL.

I’ll wrap up this short review by referring you to other reviews of this CD by my colleagues on this site. They will likely provide a more balanced, in-depth analysis of Part I of The Neon God saga. Fans can rejoice, and collectors can watch for an alternate European pressing. W.A.S.P. rules.
