Although I’ve never been a true Power or War metal fan, I do appreciate the elements of it, the galloping rhythms, cascading vocals, blazing lead lines and the sense of wanting to beat your chest and scream a battle cry!
Amazingly, this album has got me back into it all! It has everything, galloping rhythm that stampedes its way through the title track, ripping lead and melody lines are ever present throughout the album. They compliment each track perfectly, none so more than "Screaming Eagles", easily some of the best fret board work of the album and a favourite of mine. There is also a synthesizer presence on this album with befits the song perfectly, Daniel Myhr is an excellent Keyboardist. With this style of music, the vocal presence is crucial, and Joakim’s Broden’s vocals are some of the best I’ve heard.
The musicianship throughout is strong and they make an album worthy of any other Power metal record before it. The songs are short and sweet and they cover a vast array of subjects, from Greco Wars to The Dogfights of WW2 and beyond. There are some tense subjects on Nazism i.e. "The Final Solution", but it is dealt with aplomb and grace, as is the music for that track in particular.
This album is something every power metal fan should own and any metal fan should at least take the time to give it a listen. The production is great and although it never does anything too outrageous and stays within its boundaries, it’s what they do within those boundaries that make this a solid record that everyone should have a good listen to.
