Dark Season
November 1998
Released: 1998, Independant
Rating: 2.0/5
Reviewer: EvilG

Thrashy power metal brought to you from England's Intense. This may not be the most original band to emerge but they are on the right track. The vocals here are GREAT, but the music backing them up is at times unimpressive. One annoying thing about the CD is the drum sound. The double kick drums sound fake and processed through a bad drum machine and are too loud in the mix in places. Other then that the drums are played fine. The bad drum sound is most noticable on the first track - Against The Grain. This track is really upbeat and catchy but is followed up by "Deny", a slower, more plodding, and less ear catching tune. By this song you're realizing that the vocals are really the only thing that's keeping this interesting (unless you only like death growls). The title track "Dark Season" is one of the better tracks, allot better written and imaginative and neat drums on this one even if it's not at breakneck speed.
