Global Mastication
September 2014
Released: 2013, Vile Records
Rating: 3.0/5
Reviewer: Infamousbutcher

Hailing from Death Metal hotbed Florida, Masticator has been around in various forms since 2006 but has now recently signed with Vile Records to release their latest blood soaked EP, GLOBAL MASTICATION. These guys have cannibalism on the brain; let’s see how they serve it up!

The EP is a furious assault of good Death Metal with elements of Deicide and Cannibal Corpse. Both low guttural vox and high pitched screams are provided by Mike Dickinson, often blended together. Drumming is fast with hammering blast beats and good fills. Riffs and solos are tight and fairly standard for the genre. The best track is “Spreading the Filth”, which features some guest vox from none other than Malevolent Creation’s Brett Hoffman.

An enjoyable 15 minutes of sonic torment, recommended for fans of old school Death Metal.
