Zimmers Hole
Legion of Flames
April 2002
Released: 2002, Virusworx
Rating: 4.5/5
Reviewer: Aaron Yurkiewicz

Bwahahahahahahaha!!!! Oh lordy pie! This is one of the best albums I’ve gotten my hands on! Imagine Weird Al Yannovick (sp?) gone absolutely metal! Parodies, thrash metal, death metal, melodic metal! Everything is contained in this masterpiece hailing from Vancouver outfit Zimmers Hole.

The one amazing thing on this CD and this band alike is that even though the parodies are a very big part of the CD’s charm, the music in here is even bigger! I have trouble fathoming the depths of vocalist Chris Valagao’s vocal aptitudes! He can shriek like King Diamond himself at one moment and deliver a top notch Death Metal growl at the very next! It’s simply amazing!

Musically, you can find most anything you like in this baby The band’s compositions are absolutely brilliant with very tight riffs, excellent drumming and just plain interesting musical constructions. To this all you can add thaat Devin Towsend is producer here and you have one of the most wicked CDs of the year.

Two of the best moments I can think of right now are Cradle of Filth being bitchslapped on “Rock Move 47” when it’s Mickey Mouse on vocals and the brilliant Metallica kick on “Evil Robots” where you can find probably the best mock lyric of Metallica’s stuff you have ever heard (“Napster, Napster! Where’s the cash that I’ve been after??”)

In al it’s a real classic with tight and interesting musical attributes and lyrics to fall of your chair laughing your ass off. Highly recommended!
