Zakas
Shunk Daddy Grind
January 1999
Released: 1998, Independent Rating: 2.0/5 Reviewer: EvilG Can you say weird? Well Zakas can! This CD really defies any categorization. At times Sakas sound heavy with an Entombed sounding guitarist crunching away, then bang, they are playing something that sounds like it originated from the twilight zone. So just who will like this CD? Chances are that the typical metalhead will be lost when they hear it (as I was). Either this is just to weird for even me, or maybe I am just not getting it?! As for this bands musical influences who knows??!! There's heavy guitars, bongos, funky slap bass, gothic keyboards, sitar, flute, saxaphone, deep vocals, distorted vocals, female vocals, rapping vocals...my god the list is endless...and all other kinds of weird combinations. It's no wonder they refer to this as "world metal." This is not a CD that is easy to listen to in one sitting - it's 18 tracks of pure wierdness.
