White Lion
Return of the Pride
May 2008
Released: 2008, Airline Records Rating: 3.5/5 Reviewer: Celtic Bob The first disc under the actual White Lion name in over 16 years has just hit record store shelves. While over the past several years there have been a few Mike Tramp’s White Lion releases this is the first claiming to be just White Lion. Is this release actually a full on White Lion album? The answer is very simple and obvious. NO!! This is another Mike Tramp project. Without Vito, Greg and James along side of Tramp there is No White Lion. Simple. On the plus side this disc does have some really great songs in the same vein as the original White Lion releases. Mike’s voice is still as great as ever. Fueled by some successful shows in 2007 Tramp got inspired and recorded this album with his current band. The hilights of this album are “Live Your Life”, "Let Me Be Me" and “Gonna Do It My Way”. These are as close to classic as we get. There are a couple of really nice ballads included here as well. Rounding out the disc are live versions of “Wait” and “When The Children Cry”. Overall a pretty solid disc of what you’d expect from Tramp. The downside is that it is misleading making you think it is the ‘Real” thing.
