Man, I don’t know if I should even be reviewing this for Metal-Rules, but hey, I reviews what the boss sends. In case you hadn’t guessed, this album isn’t metal at all, but rather falls into the whole “horror-punk / rock” thing that all the goth kiddies love these days. See, Wednesday 13 was the frontman for the short-lived Murderdolls. It seems that even though the band had success in Japan and England, they just couldn’t keep it together. Instead, here we find Mr. 13 as a solo artist, with his second album.

Like I said, this is not metal. However, it IS catchy as hell if you have even the slightest inkling towards heavier punk rock (think The Misfits), then you will find much to enjoy on FANG BANG. Sure, Wednesday 13 isn’t the greatest vocalist of all time, but his slightly growled rasp fits perfectly with his tombstone-gazing graveyard rock. And truthfully, some songs do have some heft: “Faith in the Devil” being a prime example. Elsewhere, it’s all about the fun cemetery party (as “Till Death Do Us Party” exclaims), Wednesday 13 leading the drunken festivities until the vampires and werewolves come and slaughter everyone.

This is not going to appeal to, oh, say, 90% of the MR readership, but nevertheless, I heartily recommend giving FANG BANG a whirl. It is perfect for those times when you want to listen to something a little more light-hearted, a little less heavy, and just have fun.
