One By One The Wicked Fall
December 2007
Released: 2007, Independent
Rating: 4.5/5
Reviewer: Waspman

We all know that thrash is alive and well in 2007. Bands are crawling out of the woodwork proclaiming their love of classic `80s thrash of all varieties. The best part is, it`s not a localized scene – bands from North America, South America, England, and all over Europe are jumping up and taking part. Truly, it`s a thrash fanatics dream. Well, count California`s Warbringer as one of the thrashaholic masses, as ONE BY ONE THE WICKED FALL is a 5-song slice of 1984 thrash if there ever was one.

Yeah, Warbringer are not doing anything we haven`t heard 20+ years ago, but they have MASTERED it. Bowing at the throne of the masters, the band has obviously learned well, knowing that all out speed is the essential, but not only, ingredient to success. For me, the band sounds most like SHOW NO MERCY-era Slayer, from the speed assault and atonal solos to the menacing mid-paced chug (all on heroic display with `Shoot to Kill`. What`s more, they`ve mastered the filthy, but powerful production that this music so needs.

Simply put, Warbringer have taken off with 20 minutes of an all out thrash assault, done better than many of their contemporaries. The band are hard at work on their debut full-length album, planned for release in early 2008 – I can`t wait!
