Let Sleeping Corpses Lie
Released: 2008, Geffen Records
Reviewer: Celtic Bob
This 4 disc set has just about everything you could want from White Zombie and probably more. It’s all here from early tracks to radio edits to cover songs all in one nice package.
LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE is more than a great introduction to Rob Zombie’s past, it is a full on coverage of it. From the moment you listen to the first disc right on through to the last notes of the fourth you see how Rob evolved and progressed into the artist he is today. The earlier material on here is quite a bit different from the latter stuff that most are familiar with. It is much more raw and under produced. As the music moves along we hear more familiar sounds like “More Human Than Human”, “Thunder Kiss – 65” and his cover of the old Kiss classic: “God Of Thunder”, you can tell this is where Rob found his signature sound. Even his cover of the KC and the Sunshine Band’s disco hit “I’m Your Boogie Man” gets the Zombie treatment. He kept the structure of it but just made it heavy.
With over 60 songs to satisfy your palette who could seriously ask for more? This is the definitive Zombie package.
