This is a 2 CD sampler compilation from the folks at http://www.ballbusterhardmusic.com which might be a good chance for some of you to check out some newer and lesser known bands. Featuring thirty five different acts that include Mystic Force, Dorian Gray, Madd Hunter, Psychotic Waltz, Mike Chlasciak (of Halford fame), and the infamous Bralalalala (those who visit the Disgruntled Metalheads forum will know what I’m referring to...), it’s probably a good buy if you can get it cheap... Real cheap.
Y’know, for a compilation with thirty five bands, there’s not a hell of a lot on here that caught my attention... Bralalalala’s tune blew (as I knew it would), guitar wiz Mike Chlasciak’s instrumental "13 Minutes After Death" was boring and suffered from poor production, and the bulk of the rest was just generic sludgy stuff in the vein of Crowbar and Shallow North Dakota or bad rehashing of ‘80's Glam. The only bands that stood out to me were Mystic Force, Dorian Gray, Madd Hunter (all of whom I’ve already mentioned), Machinery, Fiarro, and guitar instrumentalist Pete Wadeson (too bad Wadeson’s tune suffers from poor production because it’s really cool...).
For a two CD set that boasts "Over 140 Minutes Of Hard Music", it’s rather sad that only about 30 - 35 minutes of it is worth listening to. Recommended for bargain bin hunters only.
