Vendetta (UK)
Tyranny of Minority
April 2008
Released: 2007, Lion Music/Zink Music Rating: 1.0/5 Reviewer: Anders Sandvall Vendetta is a fairly new act formed in England during 2006 by guitar player/lead singer Edward Box. His intention was to create a band that plays traditional metal. Shortly after that guitarist Pete Thompson and bassist Gary Foalle joined the band and Box called in Mick Robson to play on the album, but soon found a permanent member with Chris Higgins. Vendetta’s music is melodic hard rock/metal with a lot of heaviness, but they are far too melodic for my taste. Box hasn’t got the right voice for this band and he doesn’t do the music or the material justice. He’s not the only problem either. Box wrote the material on his own, which was a huge mistake. TYRANNY OF MINORITY is about 60 painful minutes long and it feels like an eternity when I listen to this mess of melodic hard rock/metal that is in the same lame tempo most of the time. Vendetta sounds like band that desperately wants to play traditional 80’s metal but don’t know how and it all ends up being a boring mess of melodic metal instead. Vendetta is a dime a dozen and they really need to work on their image as well as their music in order to get anywhere. I wish I had something positive to say about the production, but the disc feels over-produced and Box is way too high up in the mix. They need a heavier guitar sound, a stronger singer and an edgier production to get this album in shape. TYRANNY OF MINORITY is a big failure in every way and I can only say thank you and good night to this band. ![]()
