Now...Submit your Flesh to the Master's Imagination
October 2012
Released: 2012, War Productions
Rating: 3.5/5
Reviewer: UK Team

Undersave are a Death Metal band from Lisbon, Portugal. The band formed as a three piece in 2004 with Nuno Braz doing guitars and vocals, João Nascimento on the second guitar and Gonçalo Neves on the drums.

Their first demo ‘Domestication of the Human Race‘was recorded with only three songs in 2005 with the recording taking place at Garagem 22 studios in Almada, with Paulo Vieira (The Firstborn, Namek, Midnight Priest, Alkateya, Pussy vibes, etc).

After many rehearsals and some local gigs, they released the EP “After the Domestication Comes The Manipulation” in 2008. It was recorded, mixed and mastered at Brugo sound studios with Hugo Camarinha (Bleeding Display, Theriomorphic, Decayed), this time on a professional format.

Before the live promotion of the EP André Pisco (bass) joined the band and after some gigs Gonçalo Neves left and Hugo Pote joined which gave the band inumerous shows in Portugal, but André Pisco and João Nascimento left the band.

In 2011 they began the recording of the debut full-length again with Paulo Vieira at Brugo Sound Studios and Mosphit Studios. They have now finally released their debut album and with only two members they have now a new guitar player: Daniel Pereira. With so many changes it is great to see Undersave finally releasing their debut album and I was looking forward to hearing it!

Starting with an intro from what sounded like an old sci-fi movie, before the brutal death metal kicks in with fast drumming and aggressive guitar riffs, before the deep growls of Nuno take over! There is great energy flowing through this album but the only problem I had with it, is the same vocal tone throughout the album, which gave the tracks a similar sound, so abit more variety would’ve improved it in my opinion. But there is no doubt just how great these guys sound and have a raw Death Metal sound to them, which I did really enjoy and really does show their musical talents, as there is so much going on and they keep the furiosity sound till the end.

As death metal goes, these guys aren’t exactly breaking any barriers here but if you do love your old school style Death Metal then be sure to check these guys out!
