This is the first time I’ve heard this (I suppose) American band who plays hardcore/punk music to the bone. In just 35 minutes they play 12 songs but they haven’t forgot to put in some tempo changes in the songs. The music is hardcore/punk but still very melodic in some parts, in some of the songs there are heavy rock influences along with pure punk influences.
Ten Foot Pole does not invent anything new with their music and political lyrics in anyway but they deliver their songs with such energy that you can forgive them for that. They deliver their music with such joy that it’s really contagious and I find myself quite enjoying this.
Ryan Greene and the band has produced the album and it was recorded in Clearlake Audio in North Hollywood CA and in TV Tray Studio in Simi Valley CA. The production sounds typical for a hardcore/punk production and they have made a good production. Mr. Jagard together with Mr. Ruggeri has written most of the lyrics with some help from the others.
As an old fan of hardcore and punk I think this sounds quite excellent. And even though they haven’t added something new to the hardcore/punk scene musicwise they still impress. The music is very well played and they have a heavy production and a strong singer that can handle the material perfectly.
The negative about this band and music are that they run through 12 songs in only 35 minutes and that feels a bit thin and cheap what a CD costs in the stores today. The cover doesn’t help the band much. There is nothing about the cover that says what kind of style of music this band is representing.
My favorite tracks are “WAKE UP (AND SMELL THE FASCISM)”, “KICKED OUT OF KINDERGARTEN”, “RACHEL CORRIE”, “BLACK AND BLUE”, “LAST CALL FOR RUSSELL’S BALLS” and “STILL BELIEVE”.
