Twisted Sister
Live At Wacken: The Reunion (DVD)
December 2010
Released: 2010, Eagle Rock Entertainment Rating: 4.0/5 Reviewer: Robert Williams LIVE AT WACKEN:THE REUNION documents the long awaited return of the original glam metal bad boys Twisted Sister. Cram packed full of archival interview clips and live footage from the prestigious Wacken Open Air festival, plus the addition of a live CD of performances spanning a time line beginning in 1980 until 2003. The strange thing about this footage is that Twisted Sister oddly come across as though they have stepped directly out of a time machine that departed from it's original destination in the early eighties. Dee Snider and company have on their classic eighties garb and continue to pack an amazing punch in the live atmosphere. Brief interview snippets with the band are interspersed between live footage throughout the duration of the DVD and detail everything from returning to the stage, the band's final concert before the reformation, filmed way back in 1987 and the courageous New York Steel benefit in which the band took part, shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The actual sound and picture quality are superb and make for an enjoyable viewing. Pretty much every Twisted Sister classic a fan could hope for are represented either on the DVD or accompanying CD. I should also note that there is a photo gallery documenting the making of the "Still Hungry" album, where Twisted Sister re-recorded the "Stay Hungry" album in recognition of the 20th anniversary of Twisted Sister's career. The total running time on this release is 110 minutes, clocking in at just short of two hours in length. It surely doesn't feel that long when the band is delivering their charismatic brand of heavy metal, complete with their over the top stage presence and theatrics. I would encourage any and every Twisted Sister fans to pick this up, you won't regret it and should come out of your viewing experience with a better idea of who the guys behind the band are like both on and offstage. ![]()
