Legends Of The Shires
October 2017
Released: 2017, Nuclear Blast
Rating: 4.5/5
Reviewer: John Haseltine

UK’s purveyors of some of the best progressive metal that can be had, unleash the mega-colossus LEGENDS OF THE SHIRES. This is a double-disc release clocking in at just about 90 minutes. With such a busy month, and a short amount of time to listen to this one, I can only give an abbreviated review here. But with that, on my first run through of this one, I was instantly hooked. Which, on its own is a bit rare. I may have mentioned that a time or two before.

So there are not many things I can say about this that are negative. In fact, while listening to it now, it just seems to be even catchier and better than it was the other day. It is no wonder Threshold have been churning out great albums for nearly 30 years.

Sorry all for the stupid basic review but all I can say is great job guys. Great album! I can’t get enough of it. Very memorable choruses that had me singing along to before the song even finished. Yeah, the first time. Do yourselves a favor. If you are in to progressive / melodic power metal, you need to put this on your list. Love it!
