Thrashgrinder
Seeds of Revolution
September 2010
Released: 2010, American Line Productions
Rating: 3.5/5
Reviewer: Luxi Lahtinen

There´s never enough decent sounding crossover/thrash around these days - and most of the 80s crossover/thrash bands have been dead and buried for a long time already (which is a true pity).

Thrashgrinder (do not let this somewhat silly band name fool you too much though) - coming from the capital area of Finland, Helsinki, do their best to bring the same vibe and spirit of the 80s crossover/thrash straight to our faces – sounding like a bunch of horny male rabbits on steroids, i.e. energetic, relentless, full of vital testosterone and most importantly, managing to sound really fuckin´ good and convincing at what they do. Wildly grinding crossover/thrash is clearly their game, in which some tiny nuances of bands like S.O.D./M.O.D., Ratos de Porão, D.R.I., Slayer, Municipal Waste, etc. can certainly be pulled out from, too – somewhat easily even.

The songs – 13 altogether, on the band´s debut album, titled SEEDS OF REVOLUTION, have the right attitude and just lots of sheer 80s crossover/thrash mentality hacked into them; done with the same recipe many other acts employed so successfully and so convincingly in this very genre in question during the 80s period of metal.

Thrashgrinder have amazingly well succeeded to capture bits and pieces from those times into their relentlessly and smoothly moving assaults that breathe fire and brimstone in the name of the golden past times – invoking some of those old ghosts back to life again through their debut full-length record. Seriously, Thrashgrinder have indeed succeeded in this very nicely in which so many other new bands have also tried to shine the best they can, but have eventually failed in it, more or less. Therefore the whole band needs to be credited for their achievements on S.O.R. - so entertaining and well-executed crossover-tinged thrash metal they offer here.

Now raise all your fists high in the air, drag your bullet and rivet belts, worn-out denims and leathers out from your dusty closets – and beware of hurting each other in the mosh pits, dear folks. ;o)
