Hailing from Germany, Thorngoth are a relatively modern and tight sounding black metal without all the overproduction and useless over FX of many bands such as Dimmu Borgir and their ilk, but with the powerful song writing and clear edge to the music to hook fans of many genres in the diverse metal world.



With its dark and cold atmospheres, but anthemic riffs and crushing sound, this LP stands out from many other new releases of the genre I have heard all year as one of the more easy listening yet exciting, conventional but intriguing albums I’ve heard all year.

The best parts of early Cradle of Filth and Immortal are combined in equal measure here to maximum effect.



It’s far from a mainstream effort here, but this 4th album from the Bavarian Metallers would make a great bridging album for those looking to get into black metal, through the most accessible but underground method possible!

There’s not a great deal of variation throughout the entire, but it’s not so one paced that the listener could ever find such a great record dull or tiresome.



Former Profane Existence keyboardist and current vocalist of this 5 piece Akhorahil uses the traditional black metal delivery, raspy and one-toned, there’s nothing to get excited about here, bit this is no burden on the songs for vocals are a feature rarely used.



In conclusion, this album is recommended for black metal diehards and those who are just curious alike! There’s plenty of catchy riffs for all those fond of great song writing and dense, moody atmosphere for all you kvlt and trve kids out there!
