The Bottle Doom Lazy Band
Blood for the Bloodking
December 2008
Released: 2008, Emanes Metal Records
Rating: 4.0/5
Reviewer: Luxi Lahtinen

What a strange band name... Well, according to the fact the band plays sort of a mixture of (funeral) doom metal and sludge, and the band members have obviously picked up that name when being under influence of weed at least, there shouldn´t nothing THAT special in that name. Or is there after all?

This French The Bottle Doom Lazy Band makes a trip into the world of somewhat psychedelic 70´s doom sounds ála Electric Wizard and Black Sabbath, and what I can already assure you as a fact, they do their thing really admirably well. Yes, they do not bring anything new or unheard of, to this genre, but with the firm yet determined touch they have over their sludge-ish doom metal, they make it all worthwhile for most of the doom fans around the globe. The band´s vocalist Benjamin sounds like he was in acid when he laid down his vocal parts for this album. His voice does sound quite ´weird´ at places, like he´s weeping in pain or something. Especially the album´s opener and title track, "Blood of the Bloodking", is one amazing piece of doom metal that doesn´t let a listener go after the song has come to its end. It simply crushes you with its unbearable weight.

Having said all this in a tiny nutshell, I only wanna say at last: Let there be doom... And there was this excellent The Bottle Doom Lazy Band, hailing from Poitiers, Poitou-Charentes, France.
