The Agony Scene
Get Damned
October 2008
Released: 2007, Century Media
Rating: 2.0/5
Reviewer: Simon Lukic

The Agony Scene delivers some uptempo metallic hardcore on their album GET DAMNED. It’s cool, it’s catchy, it’s modern and if that’s your thing then the album will be on your want list. It’s certainly isn’t mine but I can appreciate the energy and the conviction behind each of the performances.

The moments when the band step into the metal world prove to be the most appealing with ‘Adversary’, ‘Rapture’, ‘The Opposition’ and ‘Old Scratch’ convincing with tight, effective riffing. For the most part though, GET DAMNED steps into the shadow of modern metal, offering Killswitch Engage like grooves and the intense hardcore like vocals of Michael Williams with plenty of breakdowns.

GET DAMNED should appeal to those who enjoy a mix of hardcore and metal while those into other styles will definitely pass on this album. You’re either into this sort of material or your not. I’m really not.
