The Almighty Excruciating Pain
E.P.E.P.
May 2012
Released: 2012,
Rating: 1.0/5
Reviewer: Infamousbutcher

Hailing from Vancouver, BC, The Almighty Excruciating Pain is a band with a mix of thrash, punk, death, and a dash of humor. Their release “E.P.E.P.” is an odd tongue in cheek mix. I think they need to find what they do well and stick to it rather than blend all of these different elements. Being weird just for the sake of being original is not a good approach.

E.P.E.P.’s best tracks are the first three, “Idol Worship”, “Manatee”, and “Don’t Worry, the worst is yet to come”. All feature thrash style riffing and drums with a fast pace, particularly “Don’t Worry the worst is yet to come”. The guitar work is solid with decent melodies but nothing you haven’t heard before. “Manatee” includes some acoustic guitar too. Vocals are weak, sounding like a lame version of Death Angel’s Mark Osegueda. Things take a turn for the worse with the fourth track, “Taco Song”, an acoustic non-metal sexual innuendo farce, complete with some female vocals and clean male vocals. It is beyond awful and not the least bit funny. Last two tracks are nondescript and sound rougher produced.

The Almighty Excruciating Pain is unsigned at the moment. I don’t see a clear musical direction on E.P.E.P. and it was not an enjoyable head banging time.
