Stranglehold
Elemental
November 1999
Released: 1999, Iscare Records
Rating: 2.0/5
Reviewer: Pete

Hailing from England, Stranglehold put forth a strong effort on their debut CD "Elemental." For a 3-peice, Stranglehold provide power metal in the Hammerfall/Angra/Hellowen vein with a hint of Malmsteen thrown in for good measure. The vocalist sounds like a cross between Jeff Scott Soto and Joe Lynn Turner, while providing some impressive fretwork as well. Only thing is half-ways through the disc you get the feeling that it's been done before. Great production, great harmonies, great musicianship. With some stronger material, Stranglehold could be a contender for bigger and better things. For info, contact the band at http://www.stranglehold.mcmail.com
