Snow
At Last
October 2017
Released: 2017, Escape Rating: 4.5/5 Reviewer: John Haseltine I am thrilled to announce to all the rockers and metal heads out there the release of AT LAST. Or SNOW AT LAST. Either way, this release is a gem of an album by the band first formed in the 70’s by the Cavazo brothers. Yes, Tony and Carlos of Hurricane and Quiet Riot fame. The history and story behind the band and the brothers of the early days is one that needs to be checked out separately. There is a great bio and a look back at both URL’s listed here. As I first listened to this, I was mesmerized. I have over the past several years been getting into some of the more obscure hard rock and metal bands of the ‘70’s. I must admit, Snow had not been on the radar. Why Snow was never catapulted into stardom back in the day is beyond me. But all the members did go on to do other great things. The studio side of AT LAST consists of not only the 5 tracks that were on the one and only release in 1980, but 7 other demo tracks that Carlos stated, “sounded so good, we included them.” He was right. For 1978 – 1980, this band was well ahead of its time. Their music is catchy as hell and has a good rocking’ style. I only have the studio side of this, but the version you will buy, and you will want to, contains a live set from a 1981 show at the Starwood Theater in Hollywood. A club they regularly sold out. I guess it was the shit back then. And after listening to Snow, they were too. ![]()
