Well, well, well....the wait is over, and after a CD full of un-inspired punk covers (with one really good song - Gemini) Slayer are back with their new CD. You've got to hand it to Slayer, out of all the great thrash bands from the 80's only one can still look their long time fans in the face. For that matter Slayer are prehaps the only one that has even retained their fans from CD to CD. No excuses are needed here, no bullshit about musical growth, maturity, becoming more 90's, etc etc etc...Slayer still have it and this CD still kicks ass.

What's so good about this CD? - Sure it's not Reign In Blood or South of Heaven, but after that it's as good as the rest of their material. The riff gods Kerry and Jeff still can write speedy and memorable riffs. Bostaph is back behind the kit and his drumming is again impressive. Tom's vocals sound better structured and fitting for the music this time out. However, he's using some sort of vocal effect that in places does sound a bit irritating. Some people have slammed this CD as being a Korn influenced punk CD. No way!! I don't hear any Korn crap on here, just good old Slayer up to their usual musical antics. Slayer have become the AC/DC of speed metal. They are reliable and they know what their fans like - metal!
