Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators
World On Fire
September 2014
Released: 2014, Dik Hayd/Caroline
Rating: 4.5/5
Reviewer: Celtic Bob

I have always like Slash as player since about ’87 when I first heard APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION. Since then he has had many bands and albums but since teaming up with Todd “Dammit” Kerns, Brent Fitz and Myles Kennedy his output has improved vastly. While that debut will probably never be touched he does continue to write original guitar oriented Hard Rock and Metal songs. WORLD ON FIRE is his second studio album since teaming up with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators.

The album opens up with the title track and lead-off single which sets the tone for the album. It’s a full on, high speed, heavy song. Everything about this track just screams Metal. It’s fast, heavy and Myles’ vocals are just nailing it. As I have said many times, he’s similar in style and sound to Axl except he is on key and his voice is much stronger and powerful. The rhythm section is comprised of two Canadians; Brent Fitz (Econoline Crush/Alice Cooper and the infamous Todd “Dammit” Kerns (Age Of Electric/Static In Stereo). This combination is one of the best in the business today. Fitz’ drumming and Kern’s bass playing keep a steady rhythm going while never missing a beat.

WORLD ON FIRE is 17 tracks long which is more than most, even by today’s standard. All of the tracks are enjoyable to listen to and keep your interest. Never once during the couple of plays did I lose interest in the recordings and found something in each song that was a little different from the previous one.

Solid album from Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators. Slightly more focused and harder hitting than APOCOLYPTIC LOVE which was a great album. This one is sure to become a new favourite.
