Soul Doctor
For A Fistful Of Dollars
May 2006
Released: 2006, Frontiers Records/Atenzia Records
Rating: 2.5/5
Reviewer: Anders Sandvall

This is the third album by ex-Fair Warning lead singer Tommy Heart. The band recently went through a line up change before the recording of this album, there is a new rhythm section, and the bands philosophy is Mission Rock’n’Roll.

I put on this album with no expectations at all because I haven’t heard Soul Doctor before. The music that came out the speakers was blues-based hard rock added with some melodic parts and dirty southern rock’n’roll. To me, Soul Doctors music lies pretty close to Aerosmith, Cinderella, AC/DC, and Krokus.

FOR A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS has10 tracks and has a play time of 40 minutes. The material feels pretty common and standard to say the least. The first part of the album is better, but the other half is just a blur of southern rock’n’roll with hillbilly horns and piano, harmonica, and on top of it all Tommy Heart. The album is produced by Tommy and Chris Lyne and the production is nothing out of the ordinary. FOR A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS is a given album for those who want a dirty southern hard rock album, or if you are a fan of Tommy Heart. Otherwise, this album can easily pass you by and I guarantee you that you haven’t missed a thing.

Killer tracks have to be the least anonymous “Eatin’ On Me”, “Best Way To Fade”, “Under Your Skin”, “Where Do We Go”.
