Six-Point Lead
General Anaesthesia (EP)
November 2010
Released: 2009, Self-released
Rating: 1.0/5
Reviewer: Luxi Lahtinen

Six-Point Lead comes from Torino, Italy – playing a modern American-style ´MTV-flavored metal´ a lá Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, All That Remains – and so on. In the other words, Metalcore is the name of their game here, which pretty much divide people into 2 totally separate camps as far as this particular style in question is concerned: the lovers and haters of it.

I cannot say I totally hate, or loathe this type of stuff to my deepest guts, but I don´t like it much either. Six-Point Lead are a pretty tolerable Metalcore act – the guys sounding like a bunch of professional musicians who can deceptively sound like any American brothers of theirs with a similar musical Metalcore-ish approach. I have never cared for the type of standard-ish vocals in the first place at all that is used in Metalcore: first comes growling and raspy vocals, and then a chorus part is sung in clean vocals. It´s just so generic and bland – and that´s Six-Point Lead´s biggest crime on this 4-track EP in my opinion as well, reaching out for some mainstream clichés of this aforementioned genre.

The best song of the 4 songs present here, is obviously track no. 3., titled “Starvation & Desire” with its familiar, pounding riffs – somewhat similar to Machine Head´s. Otherwise, I don´t have much else to say about their EP, as I don´t think either that is the kind of metal channel for their type of a band, to support Metalcore as a sub-genre of Heavy Metal music. Yep, you read it correctly, sirs. This website is NOT, but instead.
