Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators
Live At The Roxy (Blu-Ray)
July 2015
Released: 2015, Eagle Rock Ent.
Rating: 4.5/5
Reviewer: Celtic Bob

This was filmed less than 2 weeks after I saw them open for Aerosmith on their ‘Let Rock Rule’ tour. Their show was incredible to say the least. It was just them cranking out the tunes with no huge production and they killed it and blew Aerosmith away, and I am a big Aerofan.

When news came that this show was to be filmed and released I was naturally psyched so when I came home one day to find it waiting for me I immediately popped that sucker into my player and cranked it up.

Phenomenal in just about every way is the easiest summarization of this release. The quality is top notch from the video to the audio. The video is sharp and realistic and the audio mix, especially the DTS is smokin’ and needs to be cranked up to really appreciate it and get the full concert effect.

The tracklist is where my only complaints are. First off the ‘Bonus’ section is four songs from the show. Why break up the set and not give us fans the ‘FULL’ show in proper sequence? Secondly, there is missing songs altogether. I went to order the LP version and noticed “Dr. Alibi” was on it which is one of my favorite Slash tunes and the fact that Todd sings it is an added bonus as he is an amazing vocalist.

On the positive...
There are songs from G n’ R and Velvet Revolver alongside the new stuff from the latest WORLD ON FIRE album which came out between the show I saw and this one so the songs were fairly fresh and new. The band are amazingly tight and never miss a beat. The combination of Fitz and Kerns are the most solid rhythm section in Rock today. These guys are solid and work so well together it’s unbelievable. Thankfully they are not buried in the mix so you can really hear them and appreciate the talent. Myles is such a powerful vocalist for such a small guy. He really belts out the tunes. I always compare him to Axl as he is that style of singer except he’s on time and on key. Slash is Slash, a pro that does his job and does it well. He is one of the last guitar Gods, if not the last. There are a lot of great players out there but Slash is possibly the last guitar icon to come along. He is a pro.

Again, this release is beyond amazing. I love it and have watched it several times since I received it. I cannot wait to get the vinyl version to hear “Dr. Alibi”. A crime that it wasn’t included.
