Death Metal from Virginia Beach, Virginia. Since I´ve been in a pretty good ´Death Metal -mood´ for a some time already, it´s actually relatively easy for me to continue tormenting my ears with the more deathly stuff of the same caliber, I mean, as long as I can consider it well-done and it doesn´t make me feel like raping my neighbor´s dog after a few serious spinnings. Therefore I also wanna welcome Solace of Requiem´s debut album, UTOPIA REBORN.



Jeff, Chris and Joe from Solace of Requiem obviously all love the ´90s Death Metal sound, as well as they seem to love messing around with it a bit, kind of adding some of those different musical flavors into it from some other musically rewarding genres, and basically updating this ´90s Death Metal sound to get that modern vibe attached to it, sort of. However, it´s gotta to be said that the easiest way to describe the style they have on UTOPIA REBORN, is heavy Death Metal with a grind edge, spiced up with some parts that at least some of us would probably call ´jazzy´ parts, I guess? Either way, the songs come across heavy, grindy, brutal, punishing, etc. - you should know how the rest of the recipe goes, right? For Solace of Requiem´s pure advantage, however, it´s even fair to state they have been able to do their thing better and more ambitiously than so many others today´s extreme metal acts in terms of song writing and executing of their songs. Besides all of this, the band sounds incredibly tight as a 3-piece band and is ready to unleash slightly more Hell than one would expect from this threesome in the first place.



“Language of the Gods” and “Lost – Vapors” do the job pretty damn well by mutating my organs of hearing toward something where I feel like I should get Solace of Requiem´s logo tattooed on top of my casket before I let maggots to sink their teeth into my soon-to-be rotting flesh. Y´know, I love my death, and I love my metal.
