Sister
Deadboys Making Noise EP
March 2010
Released: 2010, Demo
Rating: 5.0/5
Reviewer: Thorsten Zwingelberg

If this is what it sounds like when the dead play some heavy tunes, then I can’t wait to join them. Sister’s fourth release sounds more alive than most of the mainstream’s highly praised poprock shit will ever do.

The recipe for DEADBOYS MAKING MUSIC seems to be rather simple: plug in the six-string, switch on the amp and crank it up! Combined with some kick-ass, scratchy vocals and really catchy hooklines, Sister are heavily armed and more than ready to assault. With seven songs the band delivers really a regular full-length album rather than an EP and they do so without any filler. “Dead” is a great singalong, “Body Line” crows with some Wednesday 13 riffs (“I want you dead”) and “I don’t mind if you die” might even make you look for your long forgotten Misfits shirts.

Sister follow the path that bands like Wednesday 13 and Maryslim have paved and they bring along a full load of great tunes. Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, they combine some Hairspray Rock N Roll with Streetdirt á la Sister Sin and some dark Horrortunes of the likes of The Murderdolls. So let’s cut a long story short: why should you buy this? Because it’s heavy, because it rrrrrooooocks and because you don’t want to be the one who missed out on one of the up and rising asskicking acts from Europe. Before you know it, Sister will have risen from the underground and will have kicked your butt, too!
