Selling The Drama
Released: 2011, Noisehead Records
Reviewer: Metal-Rules.com UK Team
SELLING THE DRAMA were founded in 2003 by Erwin Pfeiffer (vocals) and Phil Watkins (guitar). After several changes in 2006 their actual drummer Lukas Kager joined the band. Together with his brother Philipp Kager they recorded their first album "Destroy the Barricades" which had little success so they soon got back in the studio for the preproductions of the new album.
They also found a new bass player (Stefan Hörersdorfer) with whom they recorded this album "Beyond Examination" in their homestudio. In the end of 2010 they produced their first official music video to the first track "Glorified".
Where to start with this album? Well it certainly is eclectic. A complete mish mash of styles and genres leads this album to be a bit of an auditory mess at times with no real sense of direction. Heavy bass grooves and fast heavy riffs are standard fare with SELLING THE DRAMA, leading them to always sound proficient if a little over produced.
The recent changes (drummer Lukas Kager and bass player Stefan Hörersdorfer) have solidified the band since their last release it would just be good if they could find a style that fitted and not change up from Metal to Rock to almost payer like ballad.
Not a bad album but not great either, they sometimes are a little predictable.
If you want to try a new band who show a lot of promise you could do far worse.
