Sacred Oath
Sacred Oath
May 2009
Released: 2009, Angel Thorne
Rating: 3.5/5
Reviewer: Celtic Bob

After a somewhat brief hiatus Rob Thorne resurrected Sacred Oath back in ’07 and has released a product each year since. This year’s release is a self titled disc of pure heavy metal.

Being only familiar with the band’s name and not the music until I received this disc in my mailbox I was pleasantly surprised. Upon putting this album on my stereo I was immediately taken back as it began to remind me of the great thrash of the late 80’s. The old Testament influence is heard in Rob’s vocal delivery as well as in the song structure. I am by no means saying they are ripping off Testament but using it as a tool of comparison for those unfamiliar with Sacred Oath.

All of the 14 songs on SACRED OATH are 80’s style thrash they do have elements in them that now lend themselves to a whole new generation of metal called power metal. This disc is by no means power metal but it does have elements which are considered to be.

A very solid album with allot of great songs on it. This is what metal is all about.
