Scare Tactics
July 2015
Released: 2015, Indie
Rating: 3.0/5
Reviewer: Helias Papadopoulos

Scare Tactics are coming out of UK and LEGION is their debut album. This is the first time I hear for this band and I am very surprised by their music and energy. I hope they are the same and bigger at their live performances.

Let’s focus on inside the album and see what’s all about. Things take off well with opening track “Discover” which is a moody, ponderous potboiler with crunching riffs and typically great vocals. Its classy traditional metal with a strong American groovy and power metal influence and exactly the type song I’ve come to expect from Legion, melodic, hooky and battle-ready. There are a lot of Machine Head style in here.

They seem to have settled into a safe comfort zone and are content to recycle things a bit too much for my taste, but I won’t say that is something bad. Songs such as “Little Time”, “The Sign”, “Right Hand Man” and “We Live” are hard rocking tunes that hold true to the Scare Tactics sound with great breakdowns and screams. As the record starts to come to an end, the band picks up the pace for “Wrong but Righteous” performing the bases and the skills of the band.

This album is overflowing with great metal. If you are a fan of bands such as Machine Head, Dream Evil or any band of the American heavy metal style you need this album. You won’t be disappointed.
