Satan's Wrath
Die Evil
July 2015
Released: 2015, Metal Blade Records
Rating: 4.0/5
Reviewer: Helias Papadopoulos

Satan’s Wrath is a new album formed in 2011 and DIE EVIL is their third satanic album. They are a Greek band and their mainman is known for his work with Electric Wizard. They have gathered all the satanic and evil characteristics and features of Slayer, Black Sabbath and Venom and they transformed them in a thrash/black hybrid infused with N.W.O.B.H.M. sticks.

If you are die-hard fans of early Mercyful Fate, Kreator and Sodom, Possessed, Bewitched (the first wave of black metal) and clearly of Venom, then you should definitely listen to the new work of Satan's Wrath, having faithfully followed the spirit of the first three albums of the English black metal pioneers. This type of Music is rot, punk, dry sound, eerie riff and an audio / synthetic outrage is what you will hear the fan chooses to deal with them. The song that opens the album, “Castle of Torment” make clear their message. After the first 50 seconds that lasts the introductory church service, the angry cry gives way to a synthesis of speed, which is -as mentioned by Title- ode to Lucifer. All the other songs flowing accordingly. Rather than have the fuzz-guitar sound, as many of black metal bands do, they have chosen to be ambassadors of the first period of this rough and dirty metal subgenre, where still had not been so much variation among species of extreme sound and all are named simply heavy metal. Just then chose some milder forms and others more brutal and violent, provocative for its time.

From start to finish the album is a crazy-ass journey of catchy-as-hell, fast-tempo, guitar-driven tracks that consume you just like the red-hot fires of Hell from whence they came. This band would be criticized not only for its the music, but also by the whole attitude that has always gets the reputation it deserves. Unfortunately, the black metal has now become a fashion for many has lost so much prestige and semantics once. The Satan's Wrath belong to those who want to bring back to the present of past feeling this kind. If you like good black metal, by musicians who believe in what they do and not possessed by fake guts for extreme performance songs should listen to this DIE EVIL.
