Steel Attack
Diabolic Symphony
September 2006
Released: 2006, Massacre Records/Sound Pollution Rating: 4.5/5 Reviewer: Anders Sandvall Steel Attack is about to follow up their fourth studio album from 2004 called ENSLAVED. During 2005 the guys signed on with Massacre Records which, according to the band, offered the best deal and when that was done the work with DIABOLIC SYMPHONY began. If the last album was power/heavy metal based, DIABOLIC SYMPHONY leans more towards being melodic heavy metal instead. And in order to get the more symphonic progressive parts in the music to become clearer they have increased the use of keyboards. This album, as well as the previous one, is recorded in Black Lounge Studio. Jonas Kjellgren and Steel Attack have produced it, and what a production; it’s heavy, melodic and raw and it’s just what a band of Steel Attack’s caliber needs. It does the music full justice and leaves nothing more to wish for. I’d go so far and say that the production almost outnumbers the album. The music is co-written between the band and the lead singer Ronny Hemlin, and they deliver 12 outstanding, extremely well-written songs. I’ve listen to this album for a while now, and damn it gets better and better the more I listen to it. Ronny Hemlin sounds more secure and relaxed in his voice and he adds another dimension to the material he sings. He is simply an amazing singer, that man! My favorite tracks are the melodic heavy metal mindblowing “Diabolic Symphony”, “Dead Forever”, “Dreaming”, “Show Me the Way”, “Winter Hell”, and “I Bow My Head In Shame”. In “Invisible God” we find the patented Iron Maiden guitar playing which Steel Attack manages to make their own. With proper promotion, Steel Attack is about to go really far. This is certainly a band for the future, and they deserve to be recognized within the larger metal scenes across the world. I can’t but surrender before Steel Attack’s amazing fifth album and can’t wait to hear from the guys again really soon. http://www.soundpollution.se ![]()
