Curse of Heaven
October 2003
Released: 2003, Indie
Rating: 4.5/5
Reviewer: JP

There are a number of bands called Ravage (past and present) floating around out there at least four by my last count , but these five guys are active and hail from Massachusetts, USA. (as compared to Massachusetts, Bulgaria)

I fully and proudly salute bands like Ravage that continue to make true metal…defiant of all modern trends, influences and indeed poisonous influences. Somewhere there have to be bands that preserve the core sounds and values of metal and Ravage is one of those bands.

This six song EP is not a curse but indeed heavenly to my ears. There are those people (posers mostly) who claim that a band who sounds like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest in this day and age are dinosaurs. They have missed the point. The point being that Ravage as a metal band have…

-Catchy choruses

-Engaging lyrics

-Soaring vocals with range and power (without resorting to simple screaming)

-Swirling twin lead guitar work

-Technical and proficient solos

-Drums with actual fills, rolls and cymbal work

-clear production

-good presentation

and most importantly …Interesting, crunchy well arranged songs.

Ravage will appeal to any fan who enjoys Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. I guarantee it. Strong words but trust me on this one! If the final seven minute song, ‘The King Forgotten’ doesn’t put a smile on your face you might as resign, tear up your metal member ship card and leave the hall. Visit for more details. Easily strong contender for indie EP/demo of the year.
