Released: 30th, Metal Blade Records
Rating: 4.0/5

These days you’d seriously struggle to find a Heavy Metal fan to doubt that there clearly must be something in the air in Sweden, Gothenburg in particular, when it comes to the quantity and quality of up-and-coming and already established Metal bands. We’re talking about an endless list of artists, like In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, At The Gates, HammerFall, Graveyard and many more, and RAM, who have just released a brand new record under Metal Blade Records are no exception.

Seemingly just another Heavy Metal band hailing from Gothenburg in Sweden and trying to prove themselves to European audiences, RAM are no newbies to the scene as the band was established already back in 1999 and with few albums already under their belt RAM are back with their loudest and heaviest album to date - Svbversvm.

RAM take their sound and influences back to times when Classic Heavy Metal sounded fresh and denim & leather ruled the metal scene kicking off Svbversvm with Mercyful Fate worthy track “Return Of the Iron Tyrant”.

Sharp riffs, larger than life lead guitar parts, high-pitch vocals and a huge amount of mighty energy that slaps you right in the face. ...if first impression ever mattered, then RAM know exactly how to get you hooked by the first song on the record.

Svbversvm contains 10 all-out Heavy Metal anthems to make it a non-stop shred fest with an excessive amount of headbanging. Songs like “Eyes of the Night” (Highly Recommended), “Enslaver” and “Temples of Void” make Svbversvm an absolute pleasure to listen to, especially if you find yourself to be a fan of bands like Priest, WOLF, Medieval Steel and previously mentioned King Diamond’s work.

With solid material well written and produced, RAM make a great representative of Metal Blade Records with Svbversvm - an album that is throughout entertaining, cleverly structured and kicks a lot of ass. Including anything like sing-along choruses and sharpest riffs to come out of Sweden while balancing ‘borderline cheesy’ with ‘extremely empowering’, RAM are on their way to making an even bigger name for themselves and we can’t see how any Heavy Metal loving person would disagree.
