Requiem Of Revulsion
A Tribute To Carcass
April 2001
Released: 2001, Deathvomit Records / Necropolis
Rating: 4.0/5
Reviewer: AL

This tribute album had already been waited for a while and frankly it was about time to salute the British gore death / grind core legends Carcass because they were the first band ever to come up the lyrics dealt with the ultra sick pathological topics in the late 80’s and of course their music was the most extreme thing ever come up at that time. They created an entire metal genre and influenced a number of younger bands around the globe to write the lyrics about the splatter and gore stuff and take the music more into the extreme direction. It was just unbelievable how large the fan base of Carcass after all became resulting that a bunch of imitators and bands still swear into the name of Carcass.

The Requiems of Revulsion tribute album features a number of various extreme grind core and death metal combos of the underground of nowadays, heavily influenced by Carcass, when having named a band in the first place, when writing tracks, when making up titles and when penning lyrics. Check out the list of the bands with the tracks on the tribute:

Regurgitate : Genital Grinder

Rotten Sound : Reek Of Putrefaction

Haemorrhage : Rotten To The Gore

Nasum : Tools Of The Trade

Cattle Decapitation : Burnt To A Crisp

Exhumed : Exhume To Consume

Disgorge : Hepatic Tissue Fermentation

Machetazo : Suppuration

General Surgery : Empathological Necroticism

Necrony : Pungent Excruciation

Impaled : Carneous Cacoffiny

Pig Destroyer : Genital Grinder / Regurgitation Of Giblets

Vulgar Pigeons : Corporeal Jigsore Quandary

Bodies Lay Broken : Microwaved Uterogestation

Engorged : Swarming Vulgar mass Of Infected Virulency

Dead Infection : Pungent Excruciation

Avulsed : Embryonic Necropsy And Devourment

Regurgitate : Psychopathologist

Judging by the track list most of bands have mainly focused on the material of the first two albums of Carcass representing the most bizarre and brutal and disgusting material done on the career of Carcass. But of course a few bands have made a welcomed exception when picking up other tracks from other Carcass albums. Admittedly every band has done a real killer job with their own version of some of Carcass tunes especially Necrony, Regurgitate with two tracks, Exhumed, Impaled could be arisen above other bands in my opinion…Even though I have come across a plenty of all kinds of tribute albums during the last few years and most of them have been more or less awful and to be honest shit, but as to Requiem Of Revulsion being so far one of the greatest tribute albums by now. The whole including the cover and all these bands appearing on the tribute has been done with a full dedication and passion to this British godfathers of the whole gore and guts and grind core genre. After listening to the album I had to dig my old Carcass collection and put Symphony Of Sickness on, I still long for Carcass, but will Carcass ever reunite with the original three piece line up?!?
