Released: 2002, Rock Brigade /Laser Company
Rating: 4.0/5

Jonas Reingold is a very busy man. Besides his own solo carrier he’s also involved in three other bands, Midnight Sun, Flower Kings and Reptilian. This is his solo debut and he has produced the album himself. It was recorded in The House of Blues in Malmö,Sweden, and additional recording was made in Roastinghouse Studio AB,also in Malmö.

Along with him Jonas has:

Marcus Jakobsson–guitar

Jamie Salazar–drums (Last Tribe, Flower Kings, Midnight Sun etc)

Göran Edman–Lead vocal (Glory,Yngwie Malmsteen etc)

There are lots of people guesting on this record. Among others :Hempo Hilden on drums (Dokken,John Norum etc)

Pete Sandberg on backing vocals (Alien,Jade,Coverboys etc)

Peter Espinoza (Majestic,Nasty Idols).

There are twelve tracks on the album and Jonas has written all the music/lyrics on nine of them. Pete Sandberg has written the lyrics on the other three and Jonas wrote the music to them. The opening song on the album is the titletrack, part one.On the opening song there’s only song, talk and Jonas on bass. The final track is the title track, but now it’s part two,and it’s talk, song and bass again.

The other ten songs are melodic hardrock.“GLORIFIED” is a little bit faster than the other songs and in the middle Jonas plays an impressive bass solo.“OVERLOADED” is a calmer, slower song, almost a bit like a ballad. “HIGHROLER” is melodic-hardrock at it’s best. “NO MORE I LOVE YOU” is a nice love-ballad written by Jonas’ good friend Pete Sandberg. There are some really nice choirs in “KILLER ON THE LOOSE”. “CAROLINA” is a song where Görans voice and Jonas’ keyboards combine with each other really good. On “NORTHERN LIGHT” there is a really good violin solo in the middle. “CAN I TAKE YOU TO HEAVEN” is a ballad-like song with some blues influences.

Göran Edman impresses on lead vocals as he’s a really good singer.Jamie is brilliant behind the drums. Along with Johan Hellgesson from Debase, Jamie is one of the best drummers in Sweden. Jonas Reingold is, except for a good music/lyric writer, also an extraordinary bassplayer, a real demon. “UNIVERSE” is a brilliant album. Every song is really pleasant. Solo album number two is dued to be released in the fall.

More info about Jonas.
