Queensryche
Q2K
November 1999
Released: 1999, Anthem Records
Rating: 3.0/5
Reviewer: Pete

Fellow Seattle vets Queensryche are back with their latest effort. Yawn.....since when did Queensryche sound like a Seattle band??? Since new member Kelly Grey came on board. Not saying Chris De Garmo was the savoir, if so, the last 2 Queensryche albums would have been better than they were. Grey gives them that "90's sound" I guess they wanted. Touches of Rush and Pearl Jam all over this thing, as it's miles away from the days of "Mindcrime", but better than "The Promised Land." The lyrics seem very personal, as Geoff Tate tells his tales of break-ups, break-downs, with "Breakdown" and "Falling Down" being the only tracks with an edge. All the others have pretty much the same kind of tempo/feel, making it hard to stand out amongst the others.

If you like the 'Ryche of the'90's,check it out, however if you pine for classic's like "Mindcrime"....well...........
