Pretty Maids
Motherland
April 2013
Released: 2013, Frontiers Records Rating: 4.0/5 Reviewer: Celtic Bob Pretty Maids is a Danish band that has been on the go for over 30 years. They rose to popularity in the mid-late 80’s then dropped off the scene except for Europe and Japan where they continued to play shows. In 2006 they teamed up with Frontiers Records and things began to change and their popularity began to rise again. Now in 2013 they are set to release MOTHERLAND. This Melodic Metal band have a very consistent and focused album with MOTHERLAND. All the songs flow together nicely and have a huge sound about them. I cannot get past how similar Ronnie’s vocals are to Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott in many places. It is as though Joe is actually singing on the album. This is evident on “Infinity” and especially “Wasted”. This is not a bad comparison by no means as Elliott is an excellent vocalist. As mentioned a few seconds ago, the sound is huge. It is almost as though there is an orchestra behind them at times it is that full and rich sounding. Big production. Pretty Maids have hit the mark with MOTHERLAND. This is the album that should give them the recognition that they deserve. A great release from beginning to end with no filler tracks. ![]()
