Seven Days Live (DVD)
April 2006
Released: 2006, Cherry Red Films
Rating: 3.5/5
Reviewer: Celtic Bob

Poison is one of the best band’s to ever come out of the 80’s. Their live shows are unparalleled both music wise and energy wise. They are THE ultimate party rock band.

This concert DVD was filmed back in ’93 after the departure of CC. This brings forth the obvious question of “Why would they release a concert DVD featuring a guitarist that was only in the band for one album and tour?”. The other issues with this release is the editing. The video is not synced up with the music which makes it almost too annoying to watch. Apart from these 2 issuses it is not a bad release. It is however very hard to get past these major flaws. It really makes you wonder why they never released a full show from 2002’s HOLLYWEIRD tour of the “Harder, Louder, Faster” tour the following year.

As with all Poison concerts you get an energetic performance and it is clear to see that Bret truly love’s what he does and gives it his all and more. The songs are performed well and the band is fairly tight musically. Kotzen sticks to playing CC’s solo’s as closely to the records as possible and adds nothing to the band. He is like a fish out of water in this band situation. Granted he is an excellent player but he does not fit in here and it is easy to tell.

The sound an picture quality of this DVD is half decent for a show filmed over 10 years ago. This does not outweigh the fact of the negative problems of the release. Hopefully they will release a full unedited new show after the new tour is done.
