Pissing Razors
s/t
January 1999
Released: 1998, F.A.D. Records
Rating: 3.0/5
Reviewer: Edited by EvilG

Is it a healthy change when a new band doesn’t rip off K**n? (ed. note: you better fucking believe it!) I guess that’s a positive sign as far as originality goes, but when new bands rip off Pantera, that puts the genre back 5 years to when Machine Head first started out. But then again, I'd rather hear a Pantera clone ANY DAY over a bloody K**n clone!

I’m not trying to imply that Pissing Razors is a bad outing, rather that most of this has been heard before. I can hear some of Robb Flynn’s more angry moments influenced here along with a pretty hot rhythm section, decent guitar work and one of the coolest names in a few years. Vocalist Joe Rodriguez follows in the mold of Phil Anselmo and Flynn as a gruff vocalist that can sing if need be (although putting him in Anselmo’s class would be about as dumb as subscribing to Hit Parader magazine).

There are a few keepers on Pissing Razors, and if you are a fan of Pantera (Vulgar era), Machine Head, Skinlab and Dearly Beheaded, meet your new favorite band.
