Released: 2001, Point Music
Reviewer: Anders Sandvall
This is the follow-up to the debut-album with Pete Sandberg’s Jade. He’s worked with the same people as on the debut-album:
Pete chose once again to record the album in the Roastinghouse Recording studio AB in Malmö, Sweden. And he also worked with Anders “Theo” Theander once again. Pete has written most of the material but Jonas Reingold(Midnight sun,Flower Kings and Reptilian) and Jorgen Birch has helped with the lyrics in some of the songs. As usual when Pete is involved, the music is melodic hardrock. On the debut-album there were some influences of 70-s hardrock and blues but that’s not the case here. On“ORIGIN” it’s only melodic hardrock and nothing else and it is really good.
“NORTHERN LIGHT”, “TIME”, “POWER OF GOLD” and “CAN’T STOP LOVING YOU” are some faster songs. “NO WAY OUT”, “WHERE’S THERE’S A WILL” are a bit slower and the ballads are “LOVE IN VAIN” and “NIGHTS IN MEXICO”(two brilliant ballads by the way). The lyrics deal with a lot of unhappy love,it seems like that’s one of Petes favorite subjects. Just like the solo debut this is an outstanding album. Everyone in the band impresses a lot, especially Birch on guitar who is very good.
Pete deserves all the success he possibly can get. He’s a great music/lyric writer and on lead vocals he sing’s like a GOD !!!!! Both album is filled with really excellent melodic hardrock and if you’re a fan of that you should definitly check this out,you won’t be disappointed... When I interviewed Pete,he told me that a new cd with Jade is going to be released during 2003. I really look forward to that. So Pete Sandberg’s JADE is back next year.
