Permanent Frost
Permanent Frost
February 2005
Released: 2004, D-Trash Records
Rating: 3.0/5
Reviewer: Gabriel C. Zolman

Despite being released on Canada’s harsher-than-thou D-Trash Records, this is of limited appeal to the average metal or hardcore fan—perhaps better suited to the more occult-minded among you, as an ambient additive to the ritual experience. It is reminiscent of the more esoteric, Dark Ambient artists found on Relapse’s Release Entertainment imprint. Artists such as Megaptera and Scorn come to mind. Ultimately, it most reminds one of Bill Laswell’s eclectic Divination project of some years back. While not specifically a “hard music” release, it is a release by a “hard music” label, and is similar in spirit to many of the esoteric projects by several “hard music” labels in the past. In this regard, it merits mention; however, proceed with caution, if at all, unless you are a seasoned fan of the “dark ambient” genre. If you are, however, this is a fine release, representative of the best ritual electro on the market.
