If you’re looking for fast Black Metal with galloping drums and vocals that will please any big fans of the Norwegian scene, then look no further than Canadian band Ordoxe’s fourth album BEYOND MANKIND.
The group have taken a wide range of inspiration for this release by sounding similar to Immortal on ‘Obsessions’ and ‘Exhiled Archangels.’ The sound of the guitars and drums are really hypnotic and played at a tempo that will impress any budding musicians who want to master the traditional black metal sound.
‘Tel un arbre’ is slightly slower and made me think of Tsjuder, but you’ll really like this band if you’ve heard anything by Ragnarok and fellow Canadians Dark Forest. ‘We Are Vermin’ is also slower and has a black ‘n’ roll structure before descending into very impressive blast beats, and ‘Samsara’ closes the album with a spine tingling feeling of epic proportions that will make you want to play the whole thing again.
This is a band who’ve certainly come into their own, delivering blistering black metal that just makes you want to head bang.
