Omnium Gatherum

Rating: 3.0/5

Honestly I didn’t have any kind of clue of the existence of this combo before until getting a hold of their demo five track demo CD a couple of weeks ago. I didn’t know what to expect from OG. While listening to the CD I paid attention to the lyric sheet printed in the cover also. Especially I was really thrilled about pretty suitable sound quality cos these kinds of demo cds usually have quite awful quality. When reviewing a new unknown band it’s kinda mandatory especially for me to find suitable influences to light on how a band sounds cos basically it is more or less difficult to describe their sound of world. But OG in question in my opinion they don’t get too far from the melodic death metal approach and as a matter of fact some essential Children Of Bodom references could be easily pointed out. It ain’t any shame for a band having started out to have some obvious influences picked up from other well known band. But of course these comparisons may cause extra ordinary laughing reactions in the OG camp. Occasionally riffs here and there and especially the opening riffs of the second tune brought the domestic Amorphis to my mind. Anyway I am warmly looking forward to hearing more material from Omnium Gatherum as the demo CD absolutely sounds very promising in every aspect. This only testifies they have the capacity to write catchy tunes capturing my ears. I wouldn’t be surprised if some label signed them.
