Novembers Doom
Into Night's Requiem Infernal
July 2009
Released: 2009, The End Records Rating: 3.5/5 Reviewer: Bruce Sanchez Two decades into their career, Novembers Doom is still releasing top-notch doom metal. INTO NIGHT’S REQUIEM INFERNAL is another solid effort from Chicago, Illinois based group. The album starts off rather mundane: a slow starting intro that turns into an all too familiar chord progression. A death metal growl later, and the album finally settles into a steady groove of heaviness. The album is punctuated with melodic bits that really bring INTO NIGHT’S REQUIEM INFERNAL to life. “The Fifth Day of March” might be the highlight of the album. The clean everything in that song demonstrates the talent and range each member possess. The album closer is another slow piece. The distortion is re-engaged towards the end and the song begins to build to a climax, but before it can explode the song comes to abrupt close. I’m not really sure what the aesthetic purpose for this is. This is definitely an album to pick up. ![]()
